16th December 2010

just finished my work. Uploaded it to youtube so It will be easy to view. Managed to recreate the heartbeat sound and ambient hum, So now I only have one sampled track. It has a few faults but I am mostly satisfied with the outcome.

7th December 2010

Used sounds from Freesound. An ambient sound to punctuate the mood and a heartbeat sound for intensity. I think I could actually make those sounds myself. The third sound is a cello loop, it weould be beyond my presentr abilities to replicate that, so i'll leave it in.

2nd December 2010

Used a few music sounds from Freesound worked great, It's good way to get music but It's a shame it not all my own work, must remember to reference material.

30th november 2010

I found a website called Freesound project http://www.freesound.org/ . It provides free sounds, as long as it's not used for commercial purposes. I would prefer to use my own music but considering I can't play or compose this will be my backup plan.

22th November 2010

Thinking about music. I don't have a background in writing or composing. found a site called virtual keyboard someone can type in whatever notes of chords they want and it plays them but there is a limited number of keyboard sounds.

I also found a site called list-of-chords, It's actally as it sounds. Tried typing the chords from 'list of chords' into the virtual keyboard and found it an easy way to play chords. Tried finding intense chords for the fight scene and tense chords for the walk up scene.

I found this a bit awkard since i would still have to place all the sounds together. This would require composing skills, something which I've had no experience before. i may have to look for an alternate solution.

20th November 2010

recording second set of sounds. A clicking sound for a train (I will look through my household objects). I'm going to need some stabbing sounds so I'm going to stab some fruit. Then finally I'm going to record some voice acting. There isn't too much dialogue in the clip so I might be able to use my own voice. I'm planning to use some effects to make it sound more dramatic.

The punches I recorded last time sound a little sound so I will try to record some harder punches.

18th November 2010

Booked out recording kit again to record the remaining sounds.

14th November 2010

placed Audio and Video assets in adobe Premier but failed to render as a .wav format. Sometime later found out it was an error in the video file. Edited out the disruptive seconds and it works fine now. a file like this will be my final piece.

4th November 2010

Put sounds in Audacity and Audition. Audition is a bit more complex to me but Audacity is free and a little easier to ues, either way the noise reduction tools are very useful.

29th October

burrowed a solid state recording kit.
I'm going to record ruffle sounds for a fight scene as well as some punches and the sound of a door opening.

28th October 2010

Booked out a solid state recorder kit over the weekend. I'm going to record my first set of sounds.

21st October 2010

Watched clip and made notes on what kind of sounds I will need.

 Background music

Foley

Voice Acting

must research into how to make these sounds.

15th october 2010

I went into poundland and bought a B-movie, Puppetmaster: the legacy. Later I ripped a scene from the DVD. I've decided to put my own sound to the clip, Including foley background music and some basic voice acting.

14th October 2010

decided to do something else, other students have decided to use other peoples footage and put their own sound to it. It doesn't seem my map will be completed in time so I will find something else to do.

5th October 2010

Did some designs on my map but it doesn't look like I will finish in time. I'm going to look at other sources.

20th September 2010

Gave it some thought and I've decided to make sound to go with a map I am creating in UDK.

It'll will consist of foley sound: such as walking, smashing objects etc. the soundtrack will be background music which will punctuate the mood.the voice will be a basic grunt which will play when the plaer carries out actions.

I had already made a log of what I was doing on paper but for accessibility I'll retroactively post to this blog.
